Bringing the Bayou to Culpeper Downtown
Culpeper Renaissance, Inc. (CRI) is bringing the bayou to Culpeper Downtown on Saturday, February 18, 2023! Let the good times roll with over 40 downtown merchant and dining specials and activities, all with a Mardi Gras twist! Spice up your morning with some magic, by Magician & Illusionist Wes Iseli, performing at 10am and 11:30am at your favorite indoor rock-climbing facility, State Climb. Be sure to return to State Climb at 1:30pm for their exciting and mesmerizing Silks student showcase! Enjoy complimentary carriage rides from 1:30-3:30pm brought to you by Harmon’s Carriages and Training at the Depot.
While exploring historic and charming Culpeper Downtown, not only will you discover diverse and beautiful murals, but you may run into a Renaissance character or two, transported from another time, enjoying Culpeper Downtown Carnival, just like you! Get your free beads and Mardi Gras masks from CRI volunteers, circulating downtown, while supplies last! Take time during the Carnival to complete the CRI sponsored Carnival Scavenger Hunt and you could be entered to win a Downtown Gift Basket! Stop by the Town of Culpeper’s Visitor Center in the Depot to get started. Be sure to visit from 12pm to 3pm and receive complimentary face painting by Sandy’s! While on Davis Street, stop by Grass Rootes to see Daniel Ryman, for complimentary caricature art like no other (tips appreciated!). And if you are looking to get dressed up and hit the town, get your advanced tickets for SAFE’s version of Carnival with luxury bingo, music, dancing, refreshments and a cash bar at the Culpeper Center & Suites, Saturday, February 18, from 7pm to 11pm, it’s sure to be a ball!
With 15 participating Culpeper Downtown eateries, ranging from grab and go to fine dining, you will undoubtedly find something to enjoy as Carnival specials include gumbo, po’boys, jambalaya and Cajun flavors galore, it’s a tastebud’s dream! Don’t forget the sweets, like beignets and king cake, and wash it all down with a Mardi Gras themed cocktail or a Louisiana beer. You’ll think you’re in the French Quarter, but it’s just Culpeper Downtown baby!
