Culpeper Downtown for the Season
Culpeper Renaissance, Inc. invites you and yours to experience Culpeper Downtown for the Season!
Culpeper Renaissance, Inc. (CRI), along with Culpeper Downtown merchants and restaurants welcome you to experience this holiday season in Downtown! There is so much to see and do with friends and family, no matter the age or interest.
To kick off the merriest of seasons visit Culpeper Downtown during the Holiday Preview Week, November 14th to the 20th. Throughout this week you can be sure to enjoy refreshments, giveaways, savings and specials at over 40 different Downtown merchants, including specialty gift shops, restaurants and even a charming historic hotel. Check out Pink Friday on November 18th. Pink Friday is a new way for Downtown businesses to showcase their holiday collections and specials ahead of the big box retailers. Finally, be sure to take time during Holiday Preview Week and stroll Culpeper Downtown to see the fun and festive storefront decorating contest entries and place your vote for your favorite on CRI’s Facebook page!
Holiday Preview Week culminates in the Holiday Open House on Sunday, November 20th. Take advantage of the continued specials and new holiday merchandise all while enjoying the cheerful sounds of Eastern View High School and Culpeper County High School Bands performing holiday favorites on the porch of Grass Rootes from 1pm to 3pm. By 3pm, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be dropping into Culpeper to spread holiday cheer. With the help of the Culpeper County Volunteer Fire Department and the Culpeper Police Department, Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit parts of the Culpeper community while the reindeer rest up for the big night! After Santa’s ride along (map/details to be released via CRI Facebook, Instagram and www.culpeperdowntown.com), he and Mrs. Claus will stay awhile, visiting the Depot District in the heart of Downtown Culpeper, for the Community Tree Lighting.
Join Culpeper Renaissance from 4:30pm to 6:30pm for this annual community event. At the Tree Lighting you will find kid’s craft tables, sponsored by Windmore Foundation for the Arts and the Culpeper Girl Scouts. Plus, enjoy what are sure to be beautiful holiday performances from the Blue Ridge Chorale and the Theatrical Arts Children’s Chorus. The holiday programs continue with dance performances by Amber Rose Ballet Studio and MFA Dance Studio. It’s not a festive event without Sandy’s Face Painting, plus try lavender scented cotton candy (for purchase) from Seek Lavender or warm up with a delicious Kona Kocoa (also for purchase). If not already a holiday tradition, the Culpeper Downtown Community Tree Lighting will become one! And don’t forget…SANTA!
From November 20th on it will be nothing short of a holiday extravaganza in Downtown Culpeper! Besides the feeling of community that comes with shopping small and supporting local, you also get the benefit of keeping your dollars in Culpeper’s economy, conserving your time and helping create local jobs. Mark your calendars to be sure to take advantage of the best retail deals, dining specials and discounts our Downtown merchants and restaurants have to offer by following CRI on Facebook, Instagram or visiting www.culpeperdowntown.com. You’ll be able to find not only Pink Friday and Holiday Preview Week specials, but also Black Friday (November 25), Small Business Saturday (November 26) and Cyber Monday (November 28) specials.
As for Santa, Mrs. Claus arranged the schedule so they can make three additional visits to Culpeper Downtown. Find Santa and
Mrs. Claus strolling along Main Street and East Davis Street from 6pm to 8pm, celebrating and supporting Small Business Saturday on November 26th. Next Santa and Mrs. Claus will take time to sit and visit, pose for photos and hear Christmas wish lists on Friday, December 9th from 6pm to 8pm at the Culpeper Center & Suites. Santa can squeeze in a final
visit to Downtown on Friday, December 16th from 6pm to 8pm at the Town of Culpeper’s Visitor Center (in the Depot).
Perhaps Santa is not your idea of fun…maybe you’re more of a grinch! Then join in the fun of the Culpeper Downtown Holiday Scavenger Hunt, taking place from December 1st through December 15th, to explore and discover Downtown Culpeper-ville, while solving clues to help Cindy Lou Who find the Grinch and give Christmas back to Culpeper-ville! All you need is a map (found at the Visitor’s Center) and a cell phone to discover QR codes around Downtown. Once finished, be sure to drop your completed Scavenger Hunt at the Culpeper Renaissance office and be entered to win a Culpeper Downtown Gift Basket!
Finally, what is the holiday season without a Winter Market? Join the Culpeper Downtown Farmers Market and Culpeper Renaissance for the Culpeper Downtown Winter Farmers Market! Located at the East Davis Street Parking lot, near the Depot, on Saturday December 3rd, December 10th and December 17th from 9am to 12pm. Come visit some of your favorite vendors and stock up on pantry and freezer staples. Peruse handmade artisan goods and delicious treats all made locally and thoughtfully.
When shopping in Culpeper Downtown there are gifts that are no brainers, like socks, sweaters, chocolates, candles, wine and beer; but do not forget the gift of an experience, either in the form of a gift card to a favorite shop, spa or restaurant, but also perhaps an art or sewing class, maybe a membership to an indoor rock-climbing gym! There is so much to experience in Culpeper Downtown for the Season, so let’s make this holiday one to remember! And as always, we encourage you to shop small, support local, spend time with friends and family, and get to know your Downtown merchants.
Happy holidays and see you soon!
