Enjoy a hallmark approved moment or two at the 2023 Culpeper Downtown Holiday Open House & Community Tree Lighting on Sunday, November 19th!  Shop, taste and explore your way through the day, with all the holiday spirit in tow, as you’ll enjoy specials, treats and giveaways galore from 33 downtown small businesses!

With entertainment and activities throughout the day, you may want to plan accordingly.  Enjoy Charming Hill Farm Petting Zoo in the grassy area by the LOVE sign from 1pm to 4pm.  Also, from 1pm to 4pm take a turn with Jenny’s Party Ponies.  While shopping on East Davis Street, listen to festive tunes by the Eastern View High School Band on the Grass Rootes front porch from 1pm to 3pm.  Back at the Depot, catch a wagon ride through downtown with Harmon’s Carriages & Training from 2pm to 4pm.  Now it’s not a holiday without Sandy’s Face Painting, which you can find stationed at the Visitor Center (inside the Depot) from 2pm to 5pm.  Don’t forget to visit talented caricature artist, Daniel Ryman, set up outside of Poppy+Chalk/Spelled Ink/Scoop on Davis from 1pm to 5pm.

How could the day be any more fun you may wonder?  How about holiday crafts, warm beverages, cookies, dance and choral performances, a tree lighting and SANTA!  Santa will arrive via the famous Caboose on Sunday, November 19th at 2:30pm, visiting and taking photos with children and children at heart!  While Santa circulates, visit booths by the Culpeper Girl Scouts, Windmore Foundation for the Arts, State Climb, event sponsors The Smyth Team and UVA Community Credit Union, along with Culpeper Renaissance, Inc.  Purchase toasty beverages from Kona Ice and spend time with your loved ones as we build up to the Community Tree Lighting!

Kicking off at 4:45pm with choral performances by Theatrical Arts Children’s Chorus, Culpeper Christmas Carolers, and Blue Ridge Chorale, along with dance performances by MFA Dance Studio and ART of Dance, your cup will overflow with holiday spirit!  Take in the sights of the hand-picked tree, donated by Glengary Tree Farm, that will be residing in the grassy area behind the LOVE sign this year, while hearing the cheerful remarks from CRI Vice President Jennifer Hoehna & Town of Culpeper Mayor Frank Reaves.  By 5:30pm ‘O Christmas Tree’ will be on everyone’s lips as our Community Tree glows for the first of many fun and festive nights in Culpeper Downtown this holiday season!
